Just a thought Option 1 reinstate the whole route from Pickering to Rillington Jtn via Low Marishes. In BR days Low Marishes was little used station. Or Option 2 Come south from Pickering on the old formation to Pickering Show field but then go straight on on a new build formation to Kirkby Misperton think of the numbers going to Flamingo Land (with a passing loop if required) then on towards Eden Camp just outside Malton ideally then swing round towards the York-Scarborough line it may be easier here to cross the A169 via a cut and cover tunnel or bridge on the road side as the road is climbing to the A64 junction and put a new York facing junction in just east of malton. Ok costs may be more but you may also have stations on the route at 2 of north Yorkshires top tourist attractions and a line onto 1 of its top tourist destinations. Can it be done well................
