Just a thought. We celebrate Veterans Day and pretend that saying - TopicsExpress

Just a thought. We celebrate Veterans Day and pretend that saying thank you once a year counts as support and excuses the deplorable way this nation treats its vets. Too often the support and help are not there for those suffering physically and mentally. From the disgusting conditions at Walter Reed to the disgraceful mess at the VA; we have to do better. Too often sufferers if PTSD are shrugged off, ignored, or denied diagnosis so the government can get out of paying for treatment. Heartbreakingly, 22 vets commit suicide in this country every day. Homelessness is rampant among veterans. Home of the brave, we may be. But when it comes to taking care of them, saying thanks and giving them a free meal once year feels woefully shy and what they deserve.
