Just an FYI on another 50 plus year Hopkins/Mtka. business closing. The Suburban Dry Cleaners located by Shady Oak Rd. & Excelsior Blvd is closing on the 18th after 39 years in business there and prior to them it was also a Dry Cleaners under a diff. name. This isnt one of those iconic destinations from our youth but Im sure weve all seen it a million times. =D Talked with the owners son and with the widening of Shady Oak they would have to weather lots of construction/customer access issues for a prolonged period and to relocate they would need to buy upgraded equip. since theirs is so old. The owner is near retirement age and has decided its time to close the doors vs. trying to deal with the above challenges. They rent the building from the guy that owned Lehmans Liquor so they are not sure who or what will happen to it after they leave. :)
