Just an observation: I know that most (not all) who will read - TopicsExpress

Just an observation: I know that most (not all) who will read this will not give two craps, but its an observation thats been bothering me for quite some time and I am just now saying something about it. Yall can get mad if you want to, thats your prerogative but I have a right to my own opinion. I know of several people both entertainers and fans who feel the same way I do, and just wont voice their opinions for whatever reason. So I guess Ill be the mouthpiece for us all. I am expecting this post to fall upon deaf ears, but my sponsor told me its never good to let shit fester in your brain...Well this has been festering in mine for far too long. I find it very disturbing and sad that Jacksonville is the largest town in the whole state and does little to nothing to support their Kings Not the venues, not a large part of the community. Its amazing how when they need us for something, were more than happy to oblige, but once theyve gotten what they wanted, its back to treating us like second class citizens. Most of, if not all of my bookings are either out of town, or out of state, Call me crazy, but I think thats just sad. Ive brought a total of 12 titles back to Jacksonville, the last one being the largest one in existence for MIs. Im the only MI in the entire state who has it (for now) That was an accomplishment that was no easy thing to achieve. Had a Queen done the same, shed be treated like the Royalty that is deserved. The the kings of TNT have always made themselves available to help the community for benefits or whatever was needed yet the Venues wont book them (Except for Sway who is at 2 out of the 6 or 7 gay bars in the whole city.) I once heard someone refer to Jacksonville as the Town that Drag goes to die I find nothing funny about that, especially since I am starting to realize its becoming more and more fact rather than fiction. If we are asked to perform, most of the time we dont get paid and are treated like fillers I firmly believe that us boiz have paid our dues and earned our respect throughout the last few years Drag Kings or Male Illusionists, however you want to refer to us, are just as dedicated, just as talented and just as hard working as the queens. We are NOT girls who simply put on mens clothing and prance up and down on the stages. What we do takes time, money, dedication, talent and creativity. I dont understand for the life of me, why this is such an issue and why we cant be looked upon as equals in this town. Can someone please tell me????? I am not referring to the whole community, there are some of you who are very supportive and we greatly appreciate it. That concludes my rant for the day.....Have a nice weekend.
