Just an update on Chris Giddens and our adventure we call life. Today we met with his Urologist and Chris will be having RPNLD lymph node dissection surgery on February 13th. We ask that you continue to keep our family ( especially Chris) in your prayers. This is detailed information below so stop now if you really dont want to know! We had thought we might get out of this whole ordeal without this surgery but it looks like it isnt going to happen. This surgery is an invasive surgery and no walk in the park. They will start with the lymph nodes that were the largest (pre Chemo) and work their way down from there. They hope to take all of the abdominal lymph nodes but as many as Chris can tolerate. This surgery will be 4-6 hours long and please pray that Chris heart cooperates as well. From what I understand one of three things will be shown from this surgery 1. Only scar tissue left from Chemo on nodes 2. teratoma (cancer tumor but a slow growing kind) 3. Cancer in nodes still there and probably will require more Chemo. We had good news that the lymph nodes had shrunk by the chemo, but we feel in some ways that we are starting all over again rather than just finishing up. Chris especially is not thrilled about having to be in his words, gutted like a fish. Thankfully for this round Chris isnt dealing with Chemo effects and is much more clear headed. He loves his job and loved being back with his kids tonight. He is not relishing the thought of having to be out another 6 weeks, but this is necessary for him to hopefully be cancer free after the surgery! Thank you to everyone for all of the thoughts, prayers, food, cards.! We are blessed Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
