Just an update on some tremendous work Jon Harley (National Sales manager) is currently doing. Jon has been away since February helping with some worthy charity work for the Agape Orphanage is in Veerpanin, Gudem near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh in South Eastern India. The Orphanage is run by Rev Joseph Raju. It cares for around 70 disadvantaged children in the local village - 35 of whom live permanently at the orphanage. These children have typically lost at least one of their parents & have a relative (not necessarily local) as their legal guardian. They live at the orphanage so as not to be a financial burden to their family which then allows Joseph to get them educated to enable them to gain better jobs and help lift themselves and their families out of poverty. The children that dont stay live locally but are fed breakfast, lunch & dinner at the orphanage & are enrolled into local schools so they too can get educated without being a financial burden of their families. This then also stops the families making the children work at an early age. Some of the Children are educated & the Oasis Elim school in a nearby village that Joseph has set up in order to offer a higher standard of education than the poorly run local government schools. Joseph is also looking to build an orphanage at the site of the Oasis Elim school and also in another nearby village. So his work is far from over! Josephs aim is to grow the school from 450 to 800 students offering 200 of those places free of charge to orphaned children. A profitable school will be of great help to the whole charity and in fact the nucleus to the whole operation, which will help it expand even further. You will see from the below a photo of the school which in its first stage of construction of the first floor which will hopefully be finished later this year when Joseph can find the remaining funds to complete the works. Once the first floor is complete the 2nd floor will be the final stage to the project to have an orphanage on site and at total of 800 students.
