Just another thought on self-publishing: If you weren`t self publishing 10 plus years ago then there is a good chance you really don`t understand what the term Self Publishing meant to many at the time. Self-Publishing wasn`t just about publishing books. For many African American authors and others it was a way to do business within the industry and create their own market. It was a way for authors to keep the bulk of their book(s) profits by not giving the large online retailers, wholesales and distributors 60/40 split. It was about owning a business and being for the most part self-sufficient. So I`m always amused by these self-publishing and market gurus who basically teach authors to channel their sales through the same entities which are taking advantage of them.
