Just as I get offended when men say things or attribute something that is not true about Jesus, I share the same feelings about men dishonoring and claiming certain manifestations to the work of Holy Spirit as well. I see so many things contrary to the word about the Holy Spirit within movements and so called revivals that do nothing but dishonor him. The work of the Holy Spirit is about leading us to truth. He is not about zapping people and making them shake and run or crawl around on the floor. He is not going to make a person act drunk with slurred speech and stagger around. Why would God tell us to be sober and then make us act drunk? Those things are considered strange fire and are not biblical. Certain ones claim these things are biblical by assumptions and the twisting of scripture. These movements are based on feelings and weak theology. Consider the Apostle Paul, If it was about a feeling I am sure that the prison epistles would have never been inspired to him and written. He suffered and was in agony. Can you imagine the Apostle Paul being touched by the spirit in jail and rolling around on the floor and shaking and being drunk in the spirit? Can you imagine him being overwhelmed with holy laughter every time the guard poked him? It sort of changes your view of his writing to not being very credible? The spirit did overtake him and the response was truth written down for us to know and live by. If you want to experience overwhelming peace then read the word. In it are all sorts of scripture pertaining to comforting our hearts. Within it is truth, and when you read, the Spirit of God will reveal his true nature and ministry to you. The Holy Spirit is coequal with God and Jesus and he should be honored all the same. He is not a movement or a haphazard play toy for us to get zaps from him. He is not an it, but a He, and the Spirit of the living God sent here to reveal the work done by Jesus and lead us into truth.
