Just as the winter breaks, so breaks my heart. Death sneaks - TopicsExpress

Just as the winter breaks, so breaks my heart. Death sneaks through crevices and oozes through openings and leaps in the open like a starving beast. Each time we think we will escape it and each time we are proven wrong. But sometimes death is more cruel than nature ever intended. Sometimes death not only takes at random but devours the very beings trying to slow its inevitable hunger. The heroes who stand the bravest test are often the first to feel the wrath. But that is what they do. That is why they are there and that is their sacrifice. They accept it and bravely face their anonymous fate. So my heart swells in pride for them. What breaks my heart as the winter breaks are the tiny eyes staring without comprehension of why. Why is their father gone? It breaks my heart as the winter breaks because were I that hero I would scream into those tiny eyes staring and say only this. Be proud. Be strong and be there on the front lines when you can when death sneaks through crevices and oozes through openings so that you may tell your children, as I do now, that death comes not in vain when you give your life to defeat it. And when this is repeated the tiny eyes will cry but in time their hearts will swell with pride when they finally understand that death did not sneak up on their father. Death did not ooze through the walls but death was faced and challenged and fought. No greater foe can be imagined and no greater pride will emerge, but for now, just as winter breaks, so breaks my heart.
