Just back from Spain where I walked El Camino from San Jean de Pied de Port in France, over the Pyrenees, passing through Pamplona, Burgos and Leon to Santiago de Compostela and then on to Finis Terre on the coast. Thirty-three days of backpacking to Santiago and another four (taking it easy for a change) to the coast. Five hundred and fifty miles in all. This is a traditional pilgrimage route that goes back a thousand years. As you know, I am hardly even a church goer, but in many ways it was an illuminating experience.
