Just back from a most fascinating semi-private tour of local coffee roaster Batdorf&Bronson. As youd imagine, it smelled (and tasted) delicious. The only vintage-related aspect of the adventure was the roaster itself, which is a German cast-iron model from 1957. Those swirling arms (each with a different blade shape) move the roasted beans around, air drawing down through the grates. This cools them quickly and evenly, stopping the roasting process. Elvis, at center, oversees the process. I brought home three of the empty burlap coffee-bean sacks. They have nifty graphics, some in color. Any suggestions what to do with them? The phrase, Oh, youd look good in a burlap sack comes to mind, but is likely untrue ; ).
