Just back from sending Samuel James off on his final journey and it turns out Sam was a bit of a dark horse he joined up in 39 with the Cheshire Regt was one of the 300,000 evacuated from Dunkirk and spent the rest of the war with the Cheshires in the bomb disposal unit to survive the war was an achievement in itself but to survive it doing the job he did was nye on a miracle. All Sams medals and service history and photos were lost in the fire but I met his nephew (who by the way was overwhelmed by the lads and sue turning up with a standard bearer and escort from the Grappenhall Legion) and he was informed he can get replacements for the medals and docs and as for the photos another vet who served with sam had been found and has a few troop ones with him in So thank you to all who attended and gave Sam the send off he deserved and especially to the legion and the riders from the RBLR always a pleasure meeting you and your bikes
