Just back from the hospital, today was results day from my operation. Im a bit confused and still dont have definite answers but the main good news from today is that theyve tested my main lymph node and it has come back negative:) which is fantastic as it means no spreading! 2 cm of the tumour they removed was still cancerous but that has now been removed, basically it means that chemo was 66% effective. The confusing bit is that they can not decide if to give me more chemo or not. My surgeon wants me to have more but my consultant does not. I see my consultant in 3 weeks time to discuss the pros and cons of having more chemo or not. Basically though obviously having more will mean Im at better chance of killing any nasty odd cancer cells that may be left but the cons are that chemo can be very damaging, long term it affects your heart and can cause other cancers, having already had 6 then having 3 more may not be a positive thing. Its a very difficult decision but ultimately one I have to make and at this moment I just dont know what to do for the best. Im quite frustrated as my consultant appointment was for tomorrow but its been cancelled as she is poorly and so I have to wait 3 weeks to see her and get any answers. Overall though today has been positive, they are also pretty certain I will not be having radiotherapy as its not in my lymph nodes, again they cant confirm that until I see my consultant but for now Im happy.
