Just because I train detection dogs, it is assumed that I train - TopicsExpress

Just because I train detection dogs, it is assumed that I train them and then give them away or sell them on...I dont, I work them myself! I get asked what happens to the failures (truth be told, I havent had one yet..) but it doesnt matter, they are MY dogs, my pets and my friends. They do so much for me and others that they are going no where. Not only do they do a great job in work, they are education dogs, two of them are therapy dogs and have given huge amounts of pleasure to people who literally were, taking their last breaths. They have been with me through some of the worst times, including bereavement, ill health and family problems. I share a bond with my dogs that a lot of people never manage to achieve, why? Because to me they are more than just a dog, more than just a tool for work, and have time for them, as they have for me, I see so many dogs who have little or no time for their owners, usually because the owners have little time for them, and will continue to make excuses for the fact. Sorry for the rant folks, but the amount of presuming and lack of knowledge about the security dog industry is mind blowing!
