Just because a rapper is popular, rich or famous, it does not mean they are good The inclusion of profane language does not instantly make a rapper trash The construction of Hip Hop lyrics go past just those of subject matter and simple innuendo; double/triple entendres, feminine rhyme (the rhyming of multiple syllables), flow (the cadence, caesura and speed with which lyrics are delivered), substance (which is related to, but does NOT directly correlate to subject matter), alliteration, assonance, slant rhymes, rhyme scheme, meter, imagery, foreshadowing, metaphor, onomatopoeia, and vocal tone all come into play in addition to many other poetic devices Violence in Hip Hop lyrics does not cause violence in reality. Violence in reality causes violence in Hip Hop lyrics. If all of your knowledge of the genre comes from television and the radio, chances are your judgment of it should already be invalidated
