Just because something happens to you, doesnt mean something should happen to them. Pets are considered property & you can not leave your pets in your will without designating a guardian to care for them. Dont think just because you have asked someone verbally to take care of your precious babies that they will or that they understand how you want them to be cared for. Ive volunteered at kill shelters & seen loving relatives surrendering a senior pet(s) - one family even brought in their caskets & burial plots that were prepaid. The owner loved her cats & thought she had done everything to ensure their well-being in the case of her demise. Her kids thought taking care of them meant taking them to the shelter. Those cats lived the rest of their lives in peace filled with purrs & love at PurrEver. Kill shelters call me when they have a senior or unadoptable cat that is worth saving. PurrEver doesnt receive any grants or govt funding. We are full. I am not a hoarder & tho I would love to save them all, you just cant. To maintain their health & well-being, we must watch our numbers. Btw, some think we are a huge organization. I am just one woman trying to make a difference. Please dont get angry at me when I cant save all these babies. Dont you think it breaks my heart. But what I can do is share here on FB. There are over 74,000 purrsons that like us. Many souls have been rescued by social media. It does work Here is a FREE PET GUARDIAN PET FORM that my attorney & I designed. Please check with your state laws but this should cover the major bases. Encourage all rescue groups to include in their adoption packets & vets/groomers/pet sitters in their new client files Please share. Most of these senior pets are not dumped by their loved ones. Most have lost their human & home to death & a relative, friend or neighbor threw them away. Do not judge what you dont know. Most of the seniors here came for just that reason.
