Just because something is labeled as paleo doesnt mean its a fat loss meal for YOU. We love paleo probably more than any other way of eating because it advocates eating whole foods that arent processed, & really gives people a lot of nutritional power that improves a lot of aspects of their health. BUT - if youre following a paleo diet and not quite seeing the results you want, try one of these changes: 1) paleo is great for getting people to eat nutritionally dense foods, but some of these foods are also CALORIE DENSE. And in the world of fat loss - even though hormones matter more than calories - calories still do matter. You have to be in a deficit to see fat loss happen. Try to carefully lower your portion sizes of the most calorie dense foods you tend to eat, like avocado, nuts/seeds, fatty meats. Dont drastically cut them down, just start slow by cutting an ounce or two at each major meal. 2) dont combine fats with starches. Theres a little-known fat storing hormone called glucose-dependent insulinotrophic peptide (GIP) that is induced most by the combination of carbs and fat. GIP causes more insulin to be released, which stimulates the bodys MAJOR fat storing enzyme, Lipoprotein Lipase (LPL), while simultaneously decreasing the major fat BURNING enzyme, hormone sensitive lipase (HSL). Now, theres a small percentage (you know, genetic freaks), whose bodies dont react this way when eating carbs and fat. But for the most part, a large percentage of the population does. So its worth it to put this into practice whenever you can. Paleo is notorious for combining fats with carbs (albeit from very healthy sources), but nevertheless, this could be hindering your progress in terms of fat loss.
