Just before sunrise 6:25am – 7:24am Eastern Standard Time, there was the second blood moon of 2014. This is the second in a series of four occurring at approximate 6 month intervals. The dates of the blood moons are April 15, 2014, Oct. 8, 2014, April 4, 2015, and Sept. 28, 2015. Interestingly, the first blood moon occurred on the celebration of Passover. This evening, after the blood moon this morning, the annual celebration of the Feast of Tabernacles (“Sukkot”) begins. The Feast of Tabernacles celebrates the Lord’s provision for the Israelites during the forty years they were in the wilderness. To observe the 7 days and nights of the Sukkah festival observant Jews dwell in a sukkah, a hut of temporary construction with a roof covering of branches. For seven days and nights, all their meals are eaten in the sukkah. During Sukkah, these temporary huts are regarded as their home. There are 3 times in the Bible that the blood moon is mentioned: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. - Joel 2:31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: - Acts 2:20 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood; - Revelation 6:12
