Just booked one of our days events in Mauritius in November with Mel Jones.......Cant wait.....Todays tour is split into 2 halves. First of all, youll explore the Ile-aux-Aigrettes nature reserve, a 25-hectare area managed by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation. The foundation was set up to protect the islands plants and wildlife, and the reserve is filled with indigenous plants and ebony forests, which were once home to the now-extinct Dodo. If youre lucky, youll spot 3 rare species of animal while youre hiking through the parks depths - the pink pigeon, the day gecko and the giant Aldabra tortoise. Try to keep an eye out for the oeniella aphrodite orchid, too. When your trek is over, youll sail over to the island of Ile des Deux Cocos, where youre greeted by white sands and a warm, shallow lagoon. Theres a marine park here, which shelters sea life in every colour you can think of. Youll have some time to snorkel in the shallows, before youre treated to a barbecue lunch washed down with cold beer, wine or rum.
