Just breathe. That was my mantra for todays morning run. From the - TopicsExpress

Just breathe. That was my mantra for todays morning run. From the outset right to the end I focussed entirely on my breathing. One-two-three-four. As I breathe in, I time my breathing with my steps. I count to four over for steps during the in-breath. And then I do the same on the out-breath. The entire run consists of breathing in for four counts and breathing out for four counts. I slow my running down to ensure I can stick to my chosen breathing strategy. I feel comfortable and at no time during my run do I find myself panting and huffing and puffing out of control. It feels comfortably controlled and gives me confidence. It gets easier as I start to get into a rhythm. It feels meditative and it gives my mind something to focus on. I think about filling my entire body up with fresh oxygen - like pumping up an inflatable object. I imagine that with every deep breath I take, I expel toxins and the stale remainder of my nights sleep, and replace these with the fresh dewy morning air. I feel good! What a privilege it is to be able to feel the breeze on my face and the wind in my hair!
