Just catching my breath from a whirlwind couple of days with International Director Karen Blake! Yesterday we started with a relationship visit in downtown Wichita with Allen, Gibbs & Houlik and Cargill about how to better promote their clubs. Then we visited Walmart Shared Financial services in Derby to share information on how they can start a club. Next, off to McConnell AFB to be with their new club as they celebrated the acceptance if their club charter. Then we had some great BBQ before we had to leave town (more on that in a second). Special thanks to Mike Tuttle, DTM PDG, and the entire Division A team to their help in arranging the meetings and making Karen and I feel welcome! So, off to Kansas City with a stop at the State of Kansas Department of Parks and Wildlife and Emporia State University in Emporia to brainstorm ways to form clubs. Today, we got an early start with a corporate recognition ceremony at YRC Freight in Leawood and another at Ronald McDonald House in Kansas City, MO. It was great to see the partnership between Toastmasters and YRC and how RMH works with the community through Toastmasters. We met with the corporate sponsor and VPE of the newly chartered club at KU Med Center to hear about their clubs growth and the positive impact their club is making already. We started the relationship with AMC Theatres and Perceptive Software by dropping off marketing materials. The last stop was at the MasterCard operations center near the KCI airport. After a very interesting building tour, we talked about expanding MasterCards support of Toastmasters to the KC NOC. Lastly, we had a great time with current and past district leaders at a dinner reception at the Salty Iguana in Leawood. Tomorrow is the conference! -- Jim Christine, Lt. Gov Marketing
