Just caught a segment of the Huckabee show, where he had a couple from upstate New York on. They run a small farm, growing blueberries, raspberries, and open their beautiful picturesque farm for wedding ceremonies. Well...they politely declined to allow a gay marriage ceremony on their home and property based upon THEIR personal religious beliefs. Yep...the state of New York fined them $13,000 for violating the gay couples Human Rights! I THOUGHT we had the freedom of religion in the United States. This couple has gay workers, but they drew the line at allowing a gay marriage on what is both their HOME and their workplace. There are many subjects that have seen public change of opinion over the years, and gay marriage is one of them. If these folks dont want the business of a gay couple, that should be their RIGHT to do so! The Giffords, who run and own Liberty Ridge Farms should not have THEIR personal rights trampled to accommodate the rights of others. The lesbian couple have the right to get married, no question there. But this is a PRIVATE enterprise, and to have the state FORCE them to violate their religious beliefs is to me, just a sign of how screwed up our country (and in this case our judicial system) is! I feel terribly for the couple, who have now CLOSED there farm for weddings! How sad is that? So...out of selfishness and hurt feelings, this lesbian couple charged the Giffords with Human Rights violations. And the result is numerous workers on the farm have lost their jobs, and this couple has had to make the despicable decision to IGNORE their religious beliefs and allow gay wedding on their property, or choose to close, which is what they decided to do out of religious conviction! Although I do not agree with their belief, nor with their personal religious beliefs, I can see this is more a case of favoring one persons BELIEFS over that of another. That is NOT justice...it is Political Correctness, and it is despicable! Homey
