Just checked out Ellens monologue @ the Oscars, because she was touted as a kinder, gentler host. After viewing it, I could not help but wonder if the same material was performed by Ricky Gervais, Seth McFarland, or even Russel Brand, would there not be outrage? I submit that there would. Did you see him make fun of that elderly woman from the movie Nebraska? He was just so mean and not funny at all! Somehow, if the jokes are told by Ellen it is okay. Dont get me wrong. I love Ellen Degeneres, and the material was funny, but I think she was given miles more slack than her predecessors would ever have been, had they used the exact same jokes. Thats all. Just an observation. I will show myself out.
