Just completed an emotional task. Added 8 Killed-In-Action names to the list of Dog Tags that will be made and affixed this month to The Iraq War Monument. Also, 43 Veterans of the Iraq War submitted their name/rank/branch/years in Iraq to our website form and their Dog Tags will also be made and affixed this month. It’s with all due respect that everyone involved in this process handles these Tags. From me reading the names and emails that the broken-hearted Mothers send who want their son’s tag immortalized on “The Star” and to the Veterans, some of which did up to 4 tours of duty. I check each piece of information, double, then tripled check, for accuracy. When the Marine and his wife actually use the Dog Tag Machine and press each Tag, all is quiet in their home and their focus is concentrated on honoring these men and women. She spells the information and then when pressed, he reads the Tag back to her slowly. Once all are pressed, these Dog Tags are prayed over, boxed and a special time is scheduled to affix them to “The Star”. This is our way of honoring those who fought, sacrificed, and in some cases, died on behalf of our Freedom. God Bless America and all her Troops. TheIraqWarMonument.org There is no charge for Dog Tags. ..
