Just ended up in a debate with a Muslim who assumed a male - TopicsExpress

Just ended up in a debate with a Muslim who assumed a male cosplayer was Gay, and whose increasingly vitriolic statements led to Bad Things™. --- Regardless of someones choice in a set of beliefs, be they religious, political or otherwise? All I really care about is that they act intelligently, both with knowing their supposed faith, and in how they act on those beliefs. And, that they accept the fact that other people have different beliefs. I probably confuse some people with how I may *seem* to argue one side of a debate, and then will argue the other side another time. But? I recognize that issues are not so oversimplified (or, one-sided) as many people make them out to be. And, more than anything else, dislike when people toe the party line with a regurgitated bit of rhetoric, instead of thinking on their own. More so, when those people are intolerant, hateful or just plain stupid. If someone truly cares about an issue, then they ought to study it enough to be able to have a civilized discussion, based on the facts. Not with favoritism, but with reason. Because, rarely is one side entirely in the right. (This doesnt necessarily apply to any of you reading this... But, most of you have probably been lucky enough to catch me debating this or that, sooner or later. And, my apologies if my disagreement on one point or another offends. It doesnt necessarily change how I feel about you! 👹)
