Just experienced a first with my dogs... as a general rule they all bark uncontrollably at people that they dont know. Ive never been worried that either of the littles will bite anyone, whereas moose concerns me at times that he MIGHT bite. If he knows you/likes you/feels safe around you he is sweet and loving. I always tighten up on his leash when we approach/are approached by strangers to avoid the risk of someone being bit. Last night while I was walking them, I was approached by two little boys. I told them that moose might bite so he couldnt touch him. Naturally the little boy reached in and started to pet moose. I cringed and held my breath when moose first barked at him, then cowered a bit and growled at first. The boy knelt down and freakazoid chloe (who normally acts like cujo) actually crawled into his lap and licked his chin. Jagger didnt bark either and was his normal scaredy cat self.moose eventuall licked the little boy and appeared less scared /nervous as he normally is around kids. not sure if they sensed his good energy or what but it was a welcomed change behavior. Even some of my neighbors were suprised. Does this mean I will allow everyone to pet moose? No but its a nice trend I will accept and be more open to socializing moose a little more
