Just extricated myself from one of the more unpleasant bar encounters Ive EVER experienced! Agreed to meet a local friend – who I havent seen in some time – for a drink in order to catch up. Things were going well until a lone female patron took a seat next to us. Because Im a pretty sociable person, I said hello and invited her to join our conversation. BIG mistake!! Within minutes of that initial introduction she proceeded to take over the discussion...asserting her own opinions and points of view without any regard for whether or not we might agree with or be sensitive to them. Her behavior was absolutely boorish and off-putting, so much so that I fully regretted my initial pleasantries towards her. We prematurely settled our tab so that we could get the hell out of there and escape her toxic presence! All told, it was the very antithesis of happy hour.
