Just familiarising myself with some rules that are easily overlooked and have a question regarding countercharging. So, a model with CCWR B2B engages a model with CCWR 1, the CCWR1 model passes its LD test to countercharge. By my understanding the engaging model would stop 1 away from the target. However, the attacker is still engaged at the end of the action, and so would still get the engage bonus for its first attack (assuming it spends 1AP to make a melee attack and uses its free closing to get in range). So my question really is, whats the point of countercharge? Is it purely on that veryt rare occasion where something is engaging with no intention of attacking and you *might* be able to keep them out of CCWR?
