Just finished High School DXD If you look past all of the oppai, the storys pretty interesting. :3 Hmmmn, pretty interesting usages of biblical names such as Azazel and Kokabiel (which are actual fallen angels according to the field of demonology) and Lucifer and Leviathan (again, both are names of demons with Leviathan being a terrible sea monster). Excalibur was the magical sword that once belonged to the great King Arthur. According to the stories, it was King Arthur alone who could wield the sword. Hence, the Holy Sword Project. If we are to follow that logic, it would mean that those children who were used as test subjects for the Holy Sword Project, including Kiba, were the descendants of King Arthur and the reason why the experiment as unsuccessful was because the descendants barely contained the pure genes of King Arthur, exactly why in the end, they resorted to just extracting the genes that could withstand the Holy Sword and disposing of the subject. Durendal, on the other hand, was the sword that once belonged to the French Knight Roland who served under Charlemagne. According to the Song of Roland (the epic of France), Durendal was said to have a golden hilt, one tooth from St. Peter, blood from St. Basil, a single strand of hair from St. Denis, and a piece of the raiment from the Blessed Virgin Mary. At that time, it was considered as the sharpest sword in existence and was the only Holy Sword on par with Excalibur. Based on the epic, Roland used Durendal to hold off a Muslim army of a hundred thousand men so that Charlemagnes troops could retreat to France. Also, the Oliphant mentioned in the anime was the horn used by Roland to signal Charlemagne for help. The real Asia Argento is named as Aria Asia Maria Vittoria Rossa Argento and she is an Italian actress, singer, model, and director. The character of Hyodou Issei is more like a half and half. From a positive perspective, we really have to commend Issei for his persistence, though from a negative perspective, he clearly represents a desperate hentai, one who would do anything, even kill, just for the mere sight of oppai. Lastly, the notion that God is dead as mentioned by Kokabiel is from German philosopher, Friedrich Nietzche, and is used mostly in post modernism. It is used to signify the way that the post modern world (our world today) works as if theres no more God and the people living in it go through daily life as if theres no God. In the anime, it indicated that since God is dead, the world is now up for grabs with sentient beings protecting it and keeping it running. In the end, poetic justice was served. Hyodou Isseis morals and humanity stood out because, as Azazel said, he desires women which is a pure desire. Women may symbolize love, especially love from a woman and maybe thats what Issei wants (unbeknownst to him, he is already a harem king in his own terms by the end of the series) and as Azazel said, even without God, the world will continue to live on. But just for how long? Now, that is a question for another conversation. :3 Well, thats anime for you, making anything look cute, from biblical and historical figures to figures who are supposed to be scary as shit (such as Nyaroku who hails from the Cthulhu Mythos). Next anime: Kamisama Hajime-mashita
