Just finished Hillary Clintons book, Living History - not a bad read. Feel compelled to post words of Vaclav Havel, contained in this book and not quoted verbatim, .........globalization often exacerbates nationalistic and ethnic rivalries. Rather than uniting people in a common global culture, a mass culture in which everyone wears the same jeans, eats the same fast-food and listens to the same music, doesnt inevitably bring people closer. Rather, he stated, it can make people less secure about who they are, and, as a direct result, lead to extreme efforts - including religious fundamentalism, violence, terrorism, ethnic cleansing, validate and retain distinct identities. Food for thought??????
