Just finished this list. Exercise is in there in a few places. 50 THINGS I’LL DO WHEN I’M 50 1. Ride RAGBRAI. 2. Visit at least one of the 10 states that I haven’t been to yet. 3. Floss. 4. Make time for family. 5. Mentor a student teacher (or two!) 6. Visit the ocean. 7. Get new window coverings for my sliding glass door. 8. Get LASIK done if it seems like the right thing to do after consultation. 9. Get a colonoscopy (sorry you all had to read that!) 10. Be open to falling in love. 11. Learn a new song on the guitar. 12. Get new silverware. 13. Read at least five books. 14. Publish and maintain a new website for Fireside Elementary. 15. Go to Phoenix with friends to play golf. 16. Find a way to make Nicole’s birthday a day of special memories. 17. Attend at least one music festival this summer. 18. Run 10K in fewer than 50 min. 19. Refinance my mortgage to make it shorter when my alimony decreases. 20. Take the SMART (Stress Management and Relaxation Techniques) Class 21. Be a good friend. 22. Arrange a new song for the Wizards to sing. 23. Go lift weights at the gym even when Fire Choir is rehearsing (after school?) 24. Play at a golf course where I’ve never played before. 25. Make a new friend. 26. Give away one of Nicole’s things to a child who would love to have it. 27. Continue to go on dates if I’m not in an exclusive relationship. 28. Paint my kitchen cabinets that have some water damage. 29. Be honest with others and myself. 30. Make time for children, not just at school, but also in my personal life. 31. Try a beer that I have never had before. 32. Vote. 33. Host a holiday caroling party. 34. Share teaching materials and knowledge with younger teachers. 35. Contribute to my Roth IRA. 36. Exercise to stimulate my body and mind, not to be better than what I already am. 37. Stop and appreciate nature. 38. Remember happy times with Nicole every day. 39. Tell people that I love that I love them. 40. Go to the dentist; take care of any necessary dental work up to my insurance maximum. 41. Sing a song in karaoke that I’ve never sung before. 42. Ride the bus when possible. 43. Fix the habit of bending my left elbow on my golf back swing. 44. Do the Rugged Maniac race (one of those crazy obstacle course things.) 45. Try a new food. 46. Do something kind for someone else that no one other than me knows about. 47. Get the exterior of my house painted. 48. Volunteer. 49. Go hear a live band that I’ve never heard before. 50. Change the insurance coverage on my 10-year-old car to liability only.
