Just for the record, I am not a strict purist, though I was for decades. Being focused on something is a great way to learn. But its also great, once you have taken in all the greats and studied all the sources of things you love, to open up your mind. I love many kinds of music, admittedly mostly old and some VERY old but great music sounds great forever. Music that stirs the soul should always have that effect. Sometimes you need to learn to get past sound quality and stylistic changes that you initially dont gravitate towards but the payoff in studying different musical sources is big. Even if its only for casual listening. Corporate greed and mass media has changed music and many other facets of life forever. The general public are too ready to follow and digest the next fad. That is where the so called moronic masses term comes from. But on a high note, the internet does provide an incredible inexhaustible amount of research info and music. I guess thats why we are all glued to our digital devices. And yes, I am guilty of that one! OK, enough preaching. Jeez, you guys already know all this stuff, thats why you are my friends right?
