Just found out technically I had another heart attack, last night, during the procedure. It was a complication from the difficult location of the blockage, as the efforts at clearing the first blockage caused a second blockage, and that in turn triggered the heart attack. The location and challenges from this blockage made the whole procedure take much, much longer than the first one. For those who dont know, you are awake for this entire process, and the complications and heart attack explain why this one was way more painful than the first. The extensive stretching of the arteries helps explain the subsequent pain early today. They were digging around pretty good in there! The good news though, is the doctor is very optimistic, and despite this challenging episode it appears Dr. Rangaswamy and his colleagues here at Jewish have taken good care of me again. Slow and steady is the course this week, but the prognosis is very good indeed! Thanks to so many of you for the thoughts, prayers, and support.
