Just found this page and couldnt believe there were so many people with Scheuermanns Disease. All of my research has found very few people who actually had it. I could use some help/advice as I have an appointment coming up with a Ortho specialist who has a specialty in Scheuermanns disease. What questions should I be sure to ask? I am in my 30s and my condition presents with the general hunched back (not extreme) in the upper section causing some slight turtle necking. The lower spine is always tight but not a huge pain causer in comparison to the upper spine and neck (headache). When I lay down my spine does not adjust to the bed at all. The pain is generally in the 7 to 8 range with two major issues. Lately it has seemed to be higher more often then not to the point that it makes it hard to eat. I have a general high tolerance for pain that I believe came from growing up with the nagging pain from Scheuermanns. I have two issues outside of the general pain. The first is a pain under my left breast that feels like I am being stabbed with a fiery sword. This can happen if I either sit two long in one place (I have a desk job) or if I do too much exercise (working out, etc). The other issue is that I have times (at least once a day) where I get an extreme pain across my chest that empties the air in my lungs. This could go on for several attempted breathes before I can get any air in. Has anyone had similar issues and managed to get them to under control? Is there any specific medication that has shown promise and I should ask about? Are there any specific Physical Therapy activities that are helpful?
