Just going to put this one out there. Band 5 senior technicians - now dont get me wrong Im 100% behind progression and evolution of a role within the ambulance service, but are there plans to make this band 5 role register with a professional body?? Paramedics, with the exclusion of the few that acquire the band 6 role will remain band 5 with the responsibility of registration, thus having to answer for any medical malpractice that make happen. Will band 5 technicians be held accountable for any medical mishap that make take place in practice or will this still fall on the paramedics shoulder? Surely if your in the same banding you should be treated the same or will this be separated by a job title?
