Just got a call about a 2 yr old white male. He is living outside ( locally from me) He originated in CA, his owner has been deployed and the caretaker he is left with has him out in this weather. Several Good Sams have brought coats for him etc. I just got off the owner with the owners sister ( who has the dog) He is outside during the day comes inside at night. WHEWW, I dont have to pull a strange dog in the dark, during bad weather. Lord, knows I would have been out there. So, the story is the owner just finished up with the Marines and applied to be a State Trooper. He is working construction and has a young child. Ideally, they want someone to hold onto the dog until the Marine saves enough money for a house. I would love to do this , especially for a man that has served our country. Its just not feasible , its unfair to the dog and many of those folks do not return to collect the dog anyway) . When the dog is out of sight, over time he becomes out of mind.. I also need the spot for a dog in a situation just like JDS :) I suggested this is not the time in his life for a dog. He has a lot going on and trying real hard to get on his feet. I suggested letting JD come into rescue and when he is ready for a dog in a year or so, to contact me. The sister and brother are going to call me again tomorrow to speak about options.
