Just got a call again about coaching. I have two problems with not coaching yet. 1.) I want these young players to understand that they DONT NEED AN AGENT!!! Agents are for marketing not for talking about how good your game IS!! Your game & character will get you where God wants you! These men have been exploiting kids and their parents/guardians for years! If a team wants you then they will SIGN YOU and its not because of that agent. Keep that ?% and get a lawyer who will sit you down and LEARN HOW TO READ A CONTRACT!! I looked at several NBA contracts my rookie year and realized ALL OF THEM WHERE THE SAME. So I told the agents that I AM NOT giving you any money that you dont WORK for. 2.) I wont Coach if I cant teach them LIFE SKILLS. I cant be a man of power and allow these young men to keep behaving like they dont have a clue about life after basketball. I saw Mark Jackson teach kids how to be Spiritually connected and how to be team players and even make it to the Playoffs in his second year but still got FIRED! I will find a better way to reach & teach these kids how to become Professionals in Life and in Basketball.
