Just got a letter from our good friend and Toulon mainstay Don Schmidt. The Stark County Genealogical Society is raising money to digitalize the entire available collection of Stark County News print editions that are on microfilm (and Bradford Republican, too). This is a great idea and opportunity to preserve Toulon and Stark County history forever. I pledged $100 already, but they would love any amount. It costs $90 to digitalize each reel of microfilm, and they have to do 70 reels for Toulon and 45 for Bradford. For the SCN part, send donations--any amount is great, $90 for a reel, or even just $20--to Friends of the Toulon Public Library District, 617 E. Jefferson, Toulon. I understand that Galva and Wyoming have already done these projects. Check out, for example: galvalibrary.org. When they are done, the digital papers can be searched online, with searchable text. Should be a great resource for generations to come.
