Just got an email that Left Bank Books, one of the oldest and best independent bookstores in the country will be closing its downtown location next month although the flagship CWE store will remain open. Co owners Kris Kleindienst and Jarek Steele and their hard working staff are among the finest people I know and we have been fortunate to partner w them on so many events over the years including Sticks and Stones: Sluts Talk Back. 45 years for a book store is tremendous. Lets keep our beloved store open. What a difference it would make if every one of my many FB friends would buy a book there this month. In celebration of spring. And of literacy. And community. Back in the days when my father was well enough to travel, when he visited St Louis, he always wanted to go to Left Bank Books and buy me a new book. The last one he bought for me was a biography of Samuel Beckett.
