Just got back from seeing The Butler. Phenomenal movie. The acting was superb, the costume and makeup were astonishingly real. Believable that I was looking at former Presidents and First Ladies in most cases. The portrayals of Reagan, Eisenhower and Johnson were the most physically accurate. I cried throughout a lot of it. Hard to imagine living through much of what Cecil Gaines witnessed in his lifetime. I had a visceral reaction to the lunch counter and Freedom Rider scenes. Felt deeply angry over the injustices. I foresee lots of little gold statues lined up for this movie.
