Just got back from the Shoreham Wading River vs. Roosevelt Long - TopicsExpress

Just got back from the Shoreham Wading River vs. Roosevelt Long Island Championship football game; a great win by SWR (even though they gave up a season high 13 points!) by a score of 47-13. Of course, there were 4 Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties called against Roosevelt in the final quarter including a tackler breaking through the line and leveling the Shoreham replacement QB who was TAKING A KNEE - WHAT A CHEAP SHOT and then the player jumped around, ripped off his helmet and flailed his fists at all the SWR players and the officials as he was led screaming from the field! What a shame - but that is what the game too often teaches, even though it claims to Build Character. WAIT! At Shoreham - Wading River, this year, it was ALL ABOUT CHARACTER. On October 1st, #54, Tom Cutinella lost his life after a collision on the field of play against John Glenn. And the community, the players, the fans - they all reacted with character. Now that the season is over, this posting might be one last chance for us to remember Thomas Cutinella - and how in the days after his death, his friends and teammates came to realize they were better people for having known him . . . Shoreham Wading River Football, #54, Tommy Tough.
