Just got back from the hospital - George had an allergic reaction and went into anaphylactic shock. I cannot believe that I had to throw my toys to get response. The receptionist after being told he was going into anaphylactic shock simply looks at me blankly. After another minute whilst hubby battling to breath she asks me for his ID / Medical Aid card. After telling her I need emergency assistance her response was oh they will assess him soon. Needless to say that didnt go down well with me and told her that no amount of details would be needed if he is dead. I got someone in the next minute who calmly started typing in the computer whilst hubby was now shutting down. I actually asked him do you realise he is going into shock? He realised my tone was serious and said he was off to get someone. Within another minute he was in the emergency section and the staff were strolling around once again asking for details. I eventually said to the sister that he needs ventilating and asked where the doctor is? The response - doctor is busy. I then told her to get the doctor now and I would sort the ventilating out. (They had him on oxygen???) I had to instruct the nurse to use combivent or Ventolin???? Eventually I went out to the corridor, hubby still struggling and the doctor eventually came over. Must admit once she saw him they immediately moved him into trauma and the staff there were excellent. He is now back home and resting.
