Just got dissed with the ultimate insult: you just stand up there and read some words. UGH! I meet with my clients at least once and most of the time twice, in my office, which doesnt pay for itself or heat it self or clean itself. My website doesnt come free. Neither do my clothes, car, insurance or gas to get to and from your ceremony. I do the paperwork you see and then a lot more that you dont. I email you and call you and my internet and phone are not free. I work with you to create the perfect ceremony. Then, when I get to the ceremony, I talk to the photographer and musicians. I direct the mothers down the aisle, then the groomsmen, the groom, then the wedding party. I speak with you and your guests, not TO them. I set the tone for your wedding and keep you smiling and happy. I walk you through some of the most emotionally charged words youll ever say in your life. This takes skill and talent! Then, I get you all to sign and make sure the paperwork is perfect. I also make sure your pictures are perfect, by way of standing everyone in the right places, the spaces between you up and down the aisle, etc. For this, I make less than minimum wage when you count all the hours. The actual hours I put into a wedding ceremony, just like your hours of work on your wedding, far exceed what you see. And for that, I ask to be paid a reasonable amount, which I have not increased in 3 years (gas, insurance and other things certainly have!). I am grateful for those that appreciate my work, skills and experience. Sadly, some people just dont get it and are rude and insulting about something they know NOTHING about. I wish those people all the best, as they obviously have no value to their wedding vows, as they say its just reading some words. Thats like saying a musician is just singing some words or a writer is just putting some words on paper. I will happily and joyfully celebrate weddings that people DO value their vows and my services.
