Just got hit by some tear gas again - and again on my way to the telephone store... My broken telephone is truly dangerous! I was stuck between some houses and some groups of people and police. To get out I had to cross Taksim Square after police already cleared it. I was just a single guy walking across the empty place surrounded by riot police and water throwers. I was prepared to get hit either with water or tear gas. But I felt I had no other choice but to go this way, if I wanted to prevent inhaling more tear gas. I quickly walked as close as possible to some police officers, and I guess they recognized that I was not wearing any masks or anything else. And they signaled I was to get off the Square quickly. And I did... to get home. I feel like I got lucky. Just a few days ago pictures were circulated showing the police using water throwers on a person in a wheel chair and on girls. The tear gas is filling the streets again. I can already smell it inside my apartment. Just awful. I might as well go back out there again. No escape from it in any case... I really hope every one keeps a cool head tonight. As of today they already counted more than 7,000 insured and at least 5 people who died in all of this...
