Just got home from Fleetwood Macs performance in Calgary tonight. After 16 years, Christine McVie is back with the band and they all expressed their thanks to her for returning to them. I decided to share my thoughts on the concert with you Big Wreck fans as Ian, at least, is a Fleetwood Mac fan. I fear bands such as Fleetwood Mac are going to fade and become musical history with no one stepping up to replace them. Big Wreck is one of those bands that has everything that this band has to fill the gap great 70s and 80s bands are going to leave behind. Ive started to listen to music in a different way since becoming an uber BW fan. I now find myself watching with intensity the guitar playing and the drumsticks beating rather than just being focused on the vocals or the singer in a band. This was very evident tonight watching Lindsey play guitar. It was like the whole band has now been reborn and in fact the band members each talked about this in one way or another tonight. He played and sang with such intensity and talent - never even taking a minute to catch his breath. Stevie, Christine and Lindsey sang 30 year old songs with such emotion it was crazy. They opened with The Chain and then did a brilliant version of Tusk. The killer of the night was Lindsey alone with an acoustic guitar doing Big Love. Mick performed a drum solo the likes of which I have never heard or seen! They played for over 2 hours and did two encores. Lindsey and Stevie shared with the audience the inspiration/motivation behind some of their songs (The Gypsy and Big Love) that was very interesting. Even though the price of tickets to see bands like this is exorbitant, they are not going to be around forever. We have Big Wreck to look forward to for many years to come. I immediately thought of this video the minute Fleetwood Mac took the stage tonight - https://youtube/watch?v=_T-glrGvwYk Hint hint - would be great to hear Big Wreck perform this!
