Just got home from the movies a little while ago. Went to see 12 - TopicsExpress

Just got home from the movies a little while ago. Went to see 12 Years A Slave (against my better judgment) with some brothers from church. It was very hard to watch. All I could feel in my soul and spirit was to cry out to God, begging His mercy on those people who inflicted some much pain and suffering on innocent people who were forced to come to this country or some that found their way freely who were abducted, kidnapped into slavery. The most devastating part of it all is that were still in it. We just call it by other names that have so-called legal bearing like prison, welfare, human trafficking. How could a race of people be so incredibly cruel and callous? And to the poor souls who had to endure such malevolent abuse and even death, may God give them rest and eternal peace. Generation after generation since the early 1800s has passed down, taught, and perpetuated this hatred for people with brown skin. Regarding them as lesser than, even worthless. But I submit to you that if you beat down a race of people long enough, what would you expect that their mindset would be? Do you think they would trust anyone after being subjected to such abuse and ridicule? Now we have our youth dressing up as George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin (white boys in black face) as a ghastly ill-humored play on one of Americas most sorrowful tragedies. When will this country wake up and smell the shit that its been wallowing in? Why are we perpetuating hateful racist rhetoric to this day? We shall overcome, but you must speak out. You have to say something. Silence is a killer just like all those who committed the act itself. Will you commit to speaking out against racism? Against hate? Against oppression? #Lovethyneighbor #Loveconquershate #racism
