Just got into Middlesboro for the Henry County vs Bell County regional playoff football game and had the most enjoyable drive here from the Knoxville airport.... Have been in Alexandria, VA last couple of days for a conference, so decided to fly into Knoxville and rent a car to drive to Middlesboro. The route took me off at the Lafollette, TN exit, which is the exit we get off when we come to Norris Lake, so was familiar with the area, then took me across TN 63 and then thru the Cumberland Gap tunnel, which was a first for me. Was early for the game so got off at the Cumberland Gap national park and drove to the Pinnacle at the top just as the sun was starting to set. Passed several deer so close I could almost reach out my window and touch them. When I got to the top and walked to the lookout, I realized this is where my Mom and Dad came for their honeymoon 56 years ago!! I have a picture of them at the lookout!! Was able to get some beautiful pics of the fall colors and the sunset!! What a nostalgic week it has been!! Now off to the game to cheer on our Henry County boys!!
