Just got off the phone with Chris Morgan at the Dodge House in Rutland. I spoke with her about the hygiene kits, cookies and maybe dinnerish things and she said it would be great! They house about 10 veterans at any time in long term, temporary housing while they get on their feet. SO! Let do Christmas for them!!!!!! Get on board for fun times! They do not accept clothing, other than brand new socks. They would love the hygiene stuff: bar soap, large bottles of shampoo, body soap(think Axe or Irish Spring) disposable razors, washcloths, lip balm(chapstick) combs, hand lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss etc. They would love homemade cookies and desserts. They would love meals. However, they do NOT have a community set meal time, and most of the veterans have part time or full time jobs in addition to school, so meals that can be put in a refrig and reheated are perfect. They would love individually packaged snacks: granola bars, slim jims, things that can go in a lunch. They would love gift cards to any and all stores in the Rutland area. In any amount- from coffee at Cumberland farms, to Kmart to Price chopper. If you want to put together anything like this, or something like this, or just send a card, let me know and Ill truck it down! I know the Brandon American Legion Post 55 does a ton of stuff with the Dodge House and Im sure Aaron Tucker would take stuff down as well.
