Just got this Bh *from the young Israel president* As residents - TopicsExpress

Just got this Bh *from the young Israel president* As residents of Great Neck, sometimes we might – I daresay, mistakenly - feel immune to issues regarding safety and security. That being said, today an email made the rounds, which many of you must have seen, regarding some potentially disturbing activities which have been purportedly going on recently right here in Great Neck. After personally speaking with GNE Police Chief Garbedian as well as the director of Temple Israel, I can say with a great deal of confidence that the vast majority of the information in that email was either grossly exaggerated or downright fabricated. For instance, Temple Israel has no cameras that record activities on its outside property, thus eliminating that one aspect as false, and while there was indeed an incident involving a white Mercedes vehicle, its plates were actually traced to a resident of Lake Success whose identity does not in any way match what is described in the email. There are other discrepancies as well, but suffice to say there are no credible threats to our safety at this point. Chief Garbedian stressed that all of the police forces within our community and beyond have been made aware of the incident alluded to in the email and are all on heightened levels of alert with regard to all of the religious institutions in our area. I hope that this need for added security will only be a temporary phenomenon - realistically speaking, that may not be the case. In the meantime, I would stress that we should all be more aware of our surroundings and be vigilant in reporting any suspicious activity. As the commercial goes, “If you see something, say something”. I plan on sending out an email to the full membership of YIGN sometime later this week on this matter, but wanted to share it with the Board Members first so as to get any feedback/thoughts/concerns, all of which I welcome and encourage. Thank you in advance for your time and efforts. May the end of Tisha B’av usher in a time of peace and calm for all of us and K’lal Yisrael… Eric
