Just got through watching the 50th anniversary Beatles Special on - TopicsExpress

Just got through watching the 50th anniversary Beatles Special on CBS. Its no secret that I was a huge Beatles fan in my younger days and I must say that Paul and Ringo can still rock! Everything was tastefully produced and none of the artists oversung or overplayed their songs, respecting the originals. There were many high points of the night and I was pleasantly surprised by Ringo. He had the crowd on their feet and singing along with his songs. When you see the likes of Tom Hanks, Sean Penn, and other A list celebs singing and dancing in the aisles, you know something special was happening. Maroon 5 absolutely nailed their songs, and Joe Walsh channeled George Harrison on his solo work on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. The Grand Finale was amazing, with every A lister musician onstage for Hey Jude One last thing, I watched the original broadcast on Feb 9, 1964 on our black and white tv, and somewhere I have a reel to reel tape I made of the show. Unfortunately I no longer have a reel to reel tape deck and dont know if the tape, if I ever found it, would still actually play. All in all, it was one of the best shows Ive seen in a while, and if you werent a Beatle fan before, you had to walk away with a good feeling from this one, and be thankful that these guys can still play and sing and put on a good show!
